Sounds to me like they should redesign the 3.5 to use the same architecture as the 2.7/3.0, just scaled up. A 3.5L Nano style EcoBoost would be a screamer, I'm sure.
Plus, Ford seems to have a thing for boring and stroking engines to get more displacement, a la the 2.0/2.3 and the 2.7/3.0. If...
If it makes you happy, you do you, but I'm not sure I see the point to this one.
You're giving up 109 hp to get the same peak torque as the 2.3L EcoBoost that the Bronco already comes with.
Granted, you're hitting that peak torque at 1800 RPM instead of 3000 RPM, so maybe that's something...
Base Bronco also has true 4x4 and doesn't have a CVT.
If you buy a Base Bronco and build it out, you'll have a hell of an off road machine.
If you buy a Jeep Renegade and build it out, you still have a Jeep Renegade.
I was trying to figure out what this "Spring" thing is that everyone was talking about. I know what "a spring" is, but capitalized, it must be something different.
As an Okie, it took me a while to figure out everyone was talking about tornado season.
I was alive for most of them, but the only thing I ever drove in the '80s was my uncle's 1100 Massey once when I was 6.
I spent a fair chunk of my youth climbing in and out of the back seat of a Chevrolet Beretta. Let your kid climb in and out of the back of the Bronco. It'll build character.
I used to own a 2001 GMC Sonoma with a 2.2L 4 cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. I shit you not, it was possible to beat Mustangs off the line in that thing, even the GTs with a V-8. Granted, I had to stack on the brakes pretty hard, and by the time I was through second gear, they...
The 7MT's crawl gear already has a final drive ratio of 4.7:1. Sasquatch upgrades the final drive ratio of the 10R80 auto to 4.7:1.
The vast majority of the stuff on the Badlands package is also part of Sasquatch.
From what I can tell, here's what you're really "giving up" by sticking with...
The answer to that is beyond my knowledge base, but I'm sure someone has tried or plans to try with the Ranger and/or possibly the Bronco when it comes out.
Dunno, but make sure you get the right gasket if you change the heads. That was actually a problem with the RS from the factory. Somebody installed Mustang head gaskets instead of RS head gaskets (2.3L Mustang also uses a different head from the RS), created all sorts of problems.
I'm sure here's how that conversation went:
Your buddy at TruckVault: You told them what?!
You: That your'e a Jeep guy.
Him: Bruh! Jeeps suck. I only have one because people buy mods for them and I'm a capitalist. Go correct that shit, or I'll charge you full price for new Bronco...
I recall the video you're talking about. I think that storage area is mostly for the jack and associated accoutrements, and I don't recall anything about it being secure.
Sort of. As near as I can tell, its' the same block and the same turbo, but different heads and a different tune from the factory.
As @aabsalon says, it's more similar (probably identical) to the 2.3L in the Ranger.
I haven't seen the video you're talking about, but it's in line with my first thought. Just replace the engine sounds with some guy going "vroom, vroom!" when you rev, "Mmmmmhhhhh" when you're cruising, and "Vrrwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" when you accelerate. Maybe even add "Awww, no more...
