um something off Amazon. Nothing expensive. Slei will get better measurements since he has better equipment but for the purposes of metrics of product A vs B, I can at least see the difference between the 2. Link to the Decibel Meter I used: https://a.co/d/9NPbdTz

Out of curiosity, I decided to measure the decibels in driving a 2010 matrix vs the Bronco on my route to/from work. I’d say 70% residential street and 30% freeway here in Southern California. yesterday going home the Bronco ranges between 91.6 and 94.8 coming to work this morning in the...

Okay found my post which was #749 noise wise in that extremely windy section on the 10 between Fort Stockton and Junction Soft Top: 98.6 -104.4 decibels Armadillo : 96.8 - 98.2 decibels again this was an area with extreme winds so pretty much as noisy as it could probably get.

somewhere in this thread I did it already based on my road trip to and from Texas for the install. I compared soft top vs armadillo top so I dont have any data for a mic top. It does get quieter at ear level but you hear a lot of road noise from below now instead. I’m not going to rip the Bronco...

that hole and plug if it’s towards the back is to relocate the gps/xm antenna. The aluminum body of the hard top blocks the signal.
  6. CarPlay fails to load when connected to USB but only when leaving office

There’s a certain spot when I drive by no matter what the CarPlay drops. Happens to be driving near some power lines so would hate to be living in the houses near there if there’s signal disrupting car play.

haha I’m usually up at nights since I work graveyard. But Fabian should sleep lol. I haven’t done any further research to see if there’s a better product since for me, it’s been working so far based on being up to about 97 degrees so far where I’m at in Southern California. But that’s good to...
  8. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

I was about to use it but I couldn’t find any product data that says it works with foam. The gorilla ultimate spray adhesive specifically says foam and metal so that’s why I went with Gorilla Ultimate. Plus I never have had the hard top be so hot that I got burned. It does get hot but not...

I know most don’t have time to read the topic thoroughly. But to recap. 1. Armadillo’s supplier for the headliner switched glue vendors already after they were made aware of the issues. 2. If a panel happens to fall off, Gorilla Ultimate Spray Adhesive was the solution for a fix in case. So...
  10. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

just be mindful of the directions, application temps and cure times. It sets relatively quick but for the large panels I would suggest removing them to lie on the floor so you and a bunch of buddies don’t have to sit there holding it up for 20 minutes for a workout. You just need one solid pass...

none of the larger panels have fallen off for me. Just 2-3 of the skinnier ones that has less surface area. I live in so cal so it’s been getting in the range of upper 90s and the ones I had used the gorilla glue on feels like it’s bonded as well as can be for an adhesive.
  12. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

Gorilla Glue Ultimate Spray Adhesive. I had some of the smaller pieces start to come off when it was hot and I was parked outside. That bonded much better. I was the one who I guess experimented and came up with the solution. After tests I informed Fabian of the results before he told others. I...

I’m considering the TrailRax since I will have enough clearance still to get in the garage but we’ll see. TBH I don’t really need it with the exception of a couple of camping trips where an awning would be nice .
  14. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

TrailRax is making a bracket for the armadillo too but I can’t tell if it’s enough room to remove the roof panels. The AD one or the Gobi are probably your options to remove the panels. For Gobi I think you’d just need the quick release option if I remember correctly.

haha I haven’t installed the L-Tracks yet. they’re just sitting in my garage at the moment.
  16. ⚔SUMA MIrrors⚔Reduce Blind Spots & Glare

Here’s a picture of the gray just so you can see the visibility. I have a medium ceramic tint on my window so it’s not too dark (even at night) which I know was a concern. One other thing, the SUMA logo doesn’t bother me but I know some people were turned off by it. On my OEM passenger mirror I...
  17. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

One thing that was driving me nuts was that the passenger seat rattle was so loud and seemed like it was echoing off the hard top… I thought it was the armadillo top at first until I shoved a piece of card board in the passenger seat track šŸ˜‚
  18. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

Yeah mine went into production in November and was complete in early Feb. With the holidays I deducted about 2 weeks for the holidays since you know it’d be slow around that time for production. Based on that I figured about 10ish weeks for fab for mine. I just couldn’t get out there until March...
  19. Armadillo Designs Aluminum Hardtop

from start to finish that sounds about right. That’s from the point you ordered and not when they actually start on your production batch. Fabian and Sam are good about communicating.
  20. Fordpass App needs to be updated but device no longer compatible so can't update

haha yup! Was fun running androids fully unlocked though. Luckily I never had issues back then
