This looks like a solid plan. I like the idea of ditching the socket that comes in the kit with the Hopkins one. One question is why not just get the ford one?

This is pretty sweet! Looking through it, it validates what I did. You will install this kit almost exactly the same way I did mine, except it looks like one less wire ran front to back. They also just removed one end of the blue wire in that harness instead of adding a pigtail.

Literally just a wire I soldered to one end of the blue wire on the Redarc harness. You could do it with one of those splice clamp connectors too.

There is a mounting point on the hitch receiver for the electrics

The bracket for the 7 pin came in the box with my hitch receiver. It had a 4 pin and 7 pin bracket. @flip could probably get you a part number if you ask nicely… good to know about the knob, I kinda like my location better though, just personal preference I guess

I can's see why it wouldn't work... I gotta imagine the curt harness, whether its LED or not, delivers the same signal to the 4 pin wires making the install the same as what I did.

I was debating adding it to be 100% complete, but I am not sure the best place to pull a signal from. I guess the logical place would be the reverse lights in the tail lights but didn't want to start cutting and not being sure... If you do it, let me know!

Thanks, I put it off too long and now I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner. It’s on par with fog lights as far as install difficulty.

I I didn’t take one but it was just a spliced wire to the blue wire on the harness

Curt 4 pin and cut and spliced to 7 pin pigtail that came with the 7 pin/4 pin socket from ford. The ford socket allows for both 4 pin and 7 pin to work when you wire it up this way.

I gotta thank @Jimmiee here as he clued me into doing the pigtail which saved a bunch of time
