In addition to all the advice above. Remove the battery from the truck to leave on the tender. I had a Mustang that I used to store each winter and I always removed the battery. It was a good thing because the last year the stock battery was in it, the tender never detected there was a problem...

I touched it up with paint and got some adhesive rubber door edge molding and problem solved.

I bought this stuff off Amazon and it's been holding up very well as I'm into year 2 with it and it still looks good. To match the black, I mixed 2 parts white to one part black and the match was near perfect. You would have to experiment for the grey part. You can read about my nightmare here...
