Immediately was going to say this too when I saw the first image. No fault of your own OP, the top naturally falls into that shape where it can get damaged and Ford didn't put out an APB or anything about it.

Yep! If your service department is like mine they'll warranty it and replace the hood. Beware though, the one they replaced mine with also does the same thing.
