Salesman go for the quick answer to make a quick buck. Because in the VAST majority of cases, those people won't still be working there in just a couple years. Moving on before repeat business ever comes into play for them.
Since the coating masks the fact there are cracks, I don't see any way to get a replacement top under the recall. Which iirc is only replacing tops with visible cracking.
That's a new one on me as the acronym's meaning has historically meant "New Old Stock" ... but you could be right. Though the pull sheet specifically stated sale of "new old stock" part.
Regardless the pictures in listing showed all the parts were there and the description stated kit was...
Great write up.
I was able to get the part numbers from this thread for the items that were missing out of the trailer tow kit I ordered. The seller refunded my money and told me to keep what I had received. The missing items came to less than $80.
So got a complete tow kit for that $80.
I picked up a trailer tow kit (for a 2024) from a Ford dealer's EBay sales listing. Was listed as NOS (?) and shown to be complete in the pictures. It arrived missing the trailer plug and nuts to mount the module. When I contacted them about the missing items, they replied it was NOS and so...
I proactively addressed any possible issues with the MIC top on my 23 Wildtrak by having the vehicle totaled in a wreck and replacing it with a 24 Heritage Limited with white painted top.
The wreck also took care of a dead TPMS, leaking lift glass and the bad evap purge valve that was throwing...
The "point" is that words have meanings and further there is a HUGE difference in impact forces between a head on and a glancing blow collision. Physics is a real thing after all.
Had it been an actual head on collision at highway speeds the entire engine bay of the Bronco would have been...
The simple fact of the matter is the Chinese CAN build high quality stuff. The key factor is the ordering company (Oracle in this case) holding their feet to the fire on QC and paying the extra money.
It has become blatantly obvious that Oracle is simply not interested in doing so... in...
The metal tubes removed for the Sas Pkg are as effective at saving a person from a crash with a semi truck as the 4 leaf clover or lucky penny in your pocket.
Pretty sure they have to test ALL models.
However as I stated, that TINY bit of thin metal tube wasn't going to affect the outcome of a crash in any case.
Yet Ford had to get the Bronco to meet the crash safety standards even without the bars. That LITTLE tube of thin metal poking out in front of tire is NOTHING compared to the impact at speed with a tractor-trailer.
Found that out when I applied it to a set of HOSS 3.0s. Get a better deal from Levittown Ford if going that route. Also the closest dealer Ford will ship to is over 200 miles away from me.
