  1. Rubicon Trail is now passable.

I have no ego nor glorified opinion of my skill. Just want to learn. I’d prefer to figure out the limits of me (as a driver) and the bronco on 33s before moving up. Thx for the other trail suggestions. Will try those first. With other people!
  2. Rubicon Trail is now passable.

I was thinking sliders that stick out more are important (20 degree angle?). I read about older stock vehicles that do/have done the Rubicon on much smaller tires and I keep wondering if I can do it on stock Badlands 33s. I’m not afraid of body damage. It’s already pinstriped 4 weeks into...
  3. šŸŗšŸ˜Æ "Hold my Beer" Bronco Shots

My 18yo son driving it within 7 days of ownership. Just a couple weeks ago! The hood/cowl has a nice spot to rest a beer.
  4. Kodiak's BS, riding around with dogs, day drinking, and sometimes working on the Bronco thread

Beautiful area. And thanks for the detailed response. I've never backpacked in grizzly country. Makes me nervous. Although rationally I know the risk is small. I spend most of my backpacking days in the Sierras, but that's easy cause I live in California. My other days are in Southwestern...
  5. Kodiak's BS, riding around with dogs, day drinking, and sometimes working on the Bronco thread

I like your camping style. I stick with my old backpacking tent. I'm too lazy for a rooftop tent. Plus I don't like how top-heavy it makes a vehicle and the additional weight. Curious about your rack choice. Why did you go with the HOSS3 (I assume that's what it is?) vs the new 74weld solution...
  6. Newby off roader needs advice

Thx for the video! That looks similar to the concrete wall at the Hollister off-road area (northernCA). I did that with a spotter. Was scary the first time. Used both lockers after I started to slip. Then did it a second time without lockers. Less scary. But still some puckering!
  7. Newby off roader needs advice

Thanks. The only time I offroaded in Moab was in 1989. We rented a Jeep in Moab (not sure if it was a CJ or YJ). Went down Shafer trail and down Potash to the river. I remember being exhilarated. And terrified as a passenger going back up Shafer. It was really cool. But I never pursued...
  8. Newby off roader needs advice

Do you think the trails you mention are doable with a stock Badlands non-SAS on 33s? Not loaded down with a bunch of overlanding weight?
  9. Some stock suspension calculations and measurements

Ah, thanks! Looks like these are the ones. https://eibach.com/2883/E30-35-056-01-22-FORD-Bronco-pro-lift-kit
  10. Some stock suspension calculations and measurements

Yeah is what I was thinking as a short term solution to compensate for the increased weight of a bumper and winch. Keep the OEM Bilstein struts and change the springs. Is this already discussed at length in another thread? Is it advisable? Is there a way to calculate the spring rate needed based...

Darn wish I could join this! I just did my first Hollister day and it was a blast in the Bronco. Would love to hit sand soon
  12. Mabett Rear Crossbar Pics/Review

This is exactly what I would like. (The Valkerie setup isn’t available anymore despite being on their website. ) Trailrax told me their standalone crossbar option will be available later this summer. But requires the purchase of the PaxRax. It’s not full standalone...

By the time I finished this… you really didn’t want to see how long the line was for the Starbucks bathroom/reading room I was using….

What’s the link to the bug deflector? Looks good
  16. Introducing our new frame horn reinforcement plates

Looks like a great solution. I’d use it with my OEM Capable Bumper just for insurance and future upgrades. How do you recommend drilling the holes for the front most horizontal bolts? Attach with the existing rear bolt and mark it? Or keep it attached and drill? Drill through both sides in one...
  17. Beware: Trail Turn Assist causes axle weld failure that dealer won't warranty!!!

I got the same message at NV OffRodeo. It’s destructive to trails. And honestly it is. Never tried in sand. Looks fun though!

Hey @mtap how did you terminate the grounds from these connectors? Are both ends grounded?
