The storage bags should have some padding at the bottom (the Ford ones do anyway, so I'm assuming aftermarket ones do too). I just lean them up against the wall on the ground. Have done this 2 summers now with no problems.

Yup! Had mine replaced in June 2023 because of the mud on the alternator. Thank goodness the alternator and battery and all the labour was under warranty.
