I picked this little guy up on amazon for about 125 it fits in the back great. Also a cordless impact and various tools depending on what you intend to do while out.
The hooke road half rack covers the rear most top piece and not the front panels. It should work well for your build. I have the full rack for my 4dr BD. No rattling issues yet.
Not with the oem rack Installed. There is just barely enough room to remove the front panels. I sold the oem rack and bought a hooke road full length rack that allows the removal of all 3 pieces.

I went with the hookeroad for mine. Went on smooth and has made closing my tailgate so much nicer. I dont plan to get bigger tires just wanted to warn off long term effects.
Lake Sinai is right you dont have to disconnect it just let it hang. But I just did mine, in the picture the tab is on the left bottom. You should be able to just gently squeeze the tab. Gently push the right side in then pull out.
