I have an F150 which is just no fun in the same way and if we want to overnight we would have to take both. I don’t think I can fit under the safari bar of a gladiator. The Defender isn’t as fun, but may be where I would have to go.

@grewhi the low end torque on these modern turbos has really been great. All our cars since 06 have been Turbo and it has worked really well. The 05 F150 with the 5.4 feels super sluggish by comparison to the 2.0L angry turbo in the VW.

Probably the only thing that will scuttle the deal is pricing games with the dealer. If a second Ford dealer does that to me... I’ll go Inigo Montoya over it. At that point I would probably buy a BMW or Merc. The Golf R would have had my money if it had a sunroof. I haven’t been this excited...

For “why not a transit connect” question: things that are obviously work vans (commercial only) don’t have as much appeal to most buyers. Vanishingly few transit connect wagons sold. For the utility of a bed - I had an Explorer and a SportTrac and now we have an F150 with a bed tray and a cap...
