I have a 2.3L and regularly am driving it up mountains at altitude (9k+ elevation), no complaints whatsoever! Highly recommend the 2.3L, has been great over 15k miles.
So you're wiring the manual switch into the Aux switch? Or you're saying that the when the light is wired to the manual button, it's working, but when the light is wired to the Aux switch, it's not?
What color wire are you using? Have any pictures of your setup?
They 100% will, I'd be worried about that unless I was always parking in a garage. Many CF companies sell "rain guards" that you can install in case you get stuck in a heavy rain storm.
I went with OEM Ford Script Badges, sanded the 5 tabs, and attached my own adhesive tape. They look great, are holding on well, and are metal:

They popup on here and on Facebook from time to time, I got one for $700 shipped from another member. Then sold it for $700 and went with the 4DR Trailrax TRMR rack. Thule J-hook rack (I have one) would definitely work on factory roof rails
Also running OEM Badlands 17" with 33" KO2s. Will likely go to 34" or 35" eventually with upgraded suspension once we get a RTT (we have the upgraded rear end at least, wish we went Squatch)
