I see you are a July 2020 res, I am August 2020 ... so it gives me a bit of hope! One rumor is the "chip hold" is really a bad batch of chips in a shipment of modules that control the instrument cluster ... if true that would not show pattern as all vehicles need one of those.
The issue was a batch of modules came in with bad chips ... this is not a chip shortage issue per se ... they updated you when they found out about the bad chips in the module.

I think this explanation is correct - it would make no sense for comparison sake to say Ford can only fill 18% of manual orders. Saying Ford can fill 18% of orders as manual at least allows one to compare against other constraints.
