  1. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

I appreciate your open-mindedness. The other folks have been "ignored" as they seem more intent on personal attacks or creating artificially high standards to win an argument (sorry it's a confidential document). My background is 30 years of engineering, product development, product management...

I am Aug 23 ... get yours my friend!
  3. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

Susan - dial back on the righteous indignation - I am presenting two sides to the story. If you are not aware of the intricacies of the franchise dealership agreements, I can see how you might arrive at that conclusion. Sorry - a few dealers overstepped a line that they knew existed and that...
  4. Ice Mountain The Thaw - 2/12/22 Update

Guys when is your res date? Or if no res, when is your order date? Be sensitive to the fact there are folks who reserved day 1 with no VIN or no build date ...
  5. Ice Mountain The Thaw - 2/12/22 Update

Hang in there ... my sense is Ford hung a 5/21 date to under-promise and over-deliver. They seem to be moving "chip hold" vehicles out, perhaps slower than we would like and there may be a small number of vehicles for which 5/21 is valid. As a 8/20 res guy, I cheer for early reservers - best...
  6. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

I'm sure Ford and others have been willing to overlook poaching in the past as other dealers didn't complain badly enough. Given the difficulty in the dealer business the last few years, I would guess the sensitivity level to poachers has changed. Ask any dealer if they feel they have a...
  7. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

I pretty much ag I pretty much agree - it's too bad a few dealers broke the "rules" and forced Ford to change its mind. Ford reacted, we can even agree they may have reacted badly - creating the current situation made worse by lagging production. I for one do not consider the dealer(s)...
  8. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

Because it's basically against their franchise agreement (or the spirit of it), or certainly other dealers will argue it violates theirs. The intent of these agreements is to protect and reward dealers for making an investment in facilities and people - not allowing others dealers to "poach"...
  9. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

Two sides of the greed coin ... like it or not dealers are promised a territory (that's right where your lack of competition starts), one good old boy raiding another good old boy's territory is going to cause trouble. The lack of competition for market share started 50 years ago and has been...
  10. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

Both of them engaged in risky activity so that makes it right? I have mixed feelings about this ... folks coming in from all over to get MSRP less and others complaining that dealers shouldn't be allowed to sell over MSRP. Seems two sides of the same coin called greed? I understand Ford is...
  11. crazy build times?

Not sure you could order or even reserve in February of 2020??? First reservations were made July 13, 2020. Maybe you placed your order with your dealer in February of 2021? For reservation holders meeting the annual deadline, date of order with the dealer (not dealer to Ford) is meaningless...
  12. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

I know folks get upset with Ford re: Granger ... the allocation scheme maybe a blunt tool, but Ford has a legal obligation to supply dealers with "enough for their market". Granger's market is part of Iowa? Offering below MSRP to attract business from across the U.S. was what the other dealers...
  13. Article: Dude, Where's My Bronco? Ford took online reservations for its hottest vehicle in decades, but shipments anything but 1st come / 1st serve

The sales numbers quoted by Ford are US only - Canada averaged about 900 for the fourth quarter of 2020. Their sales numbers are only quoted by a tracking service by quarter. So Ford's number of 2020 U.S. sales of 43,124 do not include 2020 Canadian sales of abooot (see what I did there) 5,173.
  14. crazy build times?

Ouch!!! ... ok, forgive me for not letting you vent ... you deserve it. I did MSRP +$1200, with $2000 down. Lead with that next time? Much greater sympathy factor - hope no more bumps in your future!!
  15. crazy build times?

It's mostly you ... it is possible to have a first day reservation, but wasn't there a generic first order date for anyone who reserved prior to that date? January 19, 2021 rings a bell. Even if you "ordered" before that date or on that date, your order date is the same as everyone else...
  16. Ice Mountain The Thaw - 2/12/22 Update

As a general statement maybe ... not in this case. I am an engineer and I'm sure Ford has a few as well ... moving the vehicles in and out is a huge waste of manpower and time. If they were nicely lined up sure, but that is not the case. Either method requires people to go find the vehicle...
  17. Ice Mountain The Thaw - 2/12/22 Update

Given the situation of vehicles dispersed in a lot and assuming a relatively easy, non-invasive procedure, it certainly seems the quickest way. The alternative would be to have people drive the vehicle to a central station and then drive it back to their storage location. If we assumed 5...
