I’m 2000 miles in after applying your fix and confirm it’s still working as well! Think it’s a better solution than lubricant or electrical tape. Since fixing that though I have developed a creaking/rattling in the rear trunk area that I need to figure out.

Update:....added the Kuat Pivot V2 to this setup that makes this way more functional and will be great for a hitch mounted bike rack, or for the Chuck Bucket mentioned above.
