Try pushing in the radio detect switch. Because you are hooking into the stock radio head, that button needs to be pushed in. That did it for me. I'm running off the battery as well....

Why not wait until you get the replacement amp so you don't have to do it twice. Opening up that panel is a pain in the ass.
