Not a bad idea, cannot be too expensive, but is he aware of the newer part number? Thinking out loud, if you force his hand to install a part not authorized in the TSB he may not do it, if he does and the problem is not fixed you may be left to hang out to dry on your own. I'd not push too hard...

At this point, IMHO, FORD would rather throw good money after bad in replacing transmissons and changing out bad parts for more bad parts thinking that will make the owner feel good. Not sure how in anyone's mind that makes sense but in the corporate world it must work out in the fuzzy math...
