Complementary colors are not the only colors that go together. Orange and red are analogous colors (next to each other/same family on the color wheel), and are a standard design choice.
Whether the colors “go together” is an entirely different question than whether people find a choice...
This madness has got to stop. Orange and red most certainly work together. Red and blue go together. Orange and blue go together. Black and gray will go with any of the colors. Personal preference do not mean that Ford’s designers aren’t familiar with how colors work.

I think maybe y’all are talking about different things? The lockable “shelf” is the cargo cover in the trunk for when the top is off.

These all look the same to me based on lighting, size, contrasting colors, etc. It in no way looks like “baby blue” (think UNC colors) to me but has always been a greenish slate blue.
Preventive measures (do you trim those trees?) are taken and safety features in all aspects of daily life have improved and continue to substantially improve. I do not understand the position that we shouldn't innovate simply for the sake of saying we chose not to.
