That’s awesome. I hear you about heading to Alaska, Eastern Canada and NM. Iceland looks…. doable. I think it would be possible to ship from New Jersey or from Maine out to Iceland and then fly-in and pick it up off the port. Their ring road looks awesome (minus the volcano activity).

Feel your pain. I used to live in San Antonio so I sympathize with why anything would rust down there (except if you live on the Gulf). Simply, your Undercarriage components will continue to rust because 1) they’re probably made of pot metal; and 2) factory coatings are woefully inadequate...

I get the aesthetic but one flaw with hidden winches is that you can’t visually inspect the spooling of the winch line during retrieval nor the condition of the winch line itself.

I think if could find a 987 Cayman manual in good condition (and check that the IMS bearing was replaced), I could do that. Nothing wrong with the 981 either.
