Same install about 2 years ago, no overheating runs fine no issues.

I found some time, lol, only took about 30min. I rewired it to be wire1 to aux switch, 2&3 tied together, 4 to ground. Works fine.

I just rewired mine to match the in series 6Volt suggestion. Wire 1 should go to your aux switch, wires 2&3 get tied together, wire 4 to ground. Worked perfectly for me.
