As a former Toyota employee, there was a joke that went around that if Toyota limited the colour choice to just beige, and told their customers they didn't need any other choices, the customers would still buy it.

Is this a legit thing? I've worked for 2 different auto manufactures, and I can't figure out why they would have 2 different wire looms, 1 for a soft top order, and 1 for a hard top. I don't understand why they would source 2 different parts, as well as limiting the ability of a customer down...

I did work at Toyota's Baja Mexico plant, and their Texas plant (both build the Taco), and can confirm the same mentality exists there as well. Easy to see the TX truck from the BC truck. Stuff that wouldn't make it out the door in Texas was considered excellent in Baja.

You mind if I ask where her Taco was built? I was part of the group that did the 989 Major Model change at both TMMTX and TMMBC, but was only part time help in Texas, where as Baja was my full time gig. I just always check to see where it was built, considering the quality issues Baja always has

Probably a rich dude who's wife told him he had to clear out some of his vehicles, so he put this up for sale to appease her, knowing full well no one is ever going to touch it. If a guy like Dave Kindig built it, I might see a Bronco being worth 6 figures, but this one, not so much
