Yes you can downshift or upshift while in Drive. Difference is in drive it will automatically shift back to recommended gear if RPMs get to high. In manual it will not shift on its own. At least that’s how mine works on ‘21 and ‘23.

Ya unfortunately car batteries aren’t what they used to be. New cars over last 10-15 years I’ve been lucky to get 4 years out of the battery. Computers really shorten the lifespan on newer vehicles 😖

Check out Boomco tire covers. Soft denim style vinyl cover holds no creases, similar to Ford OEM cover, not like the marine grade vinyl I think $300 is for the Hard Cover. This is from their website

Yes I understand all that, I just thought that bolt and tab on top of BMS mount was straight flow thru current and that the sensor itself was only measuring voltage. I was never arguing about it, it just didn’t make sense why the post and tab would be any different.
