do the rear vents actually send the proper temperature air into the rear passenger area? i'm still convinced the underseat vents are missing the connection to the rest of the HVAC system in my MY23
  4. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

it's devolved into the minutia of A/C compressor operation which in it's own way is AS/S due to the use of a clutch
  5. So Why isn't this 2 Door Badlands Selling?

gotta wonder if this example's transmission is one of the rare '21s that didn't rattle
  6. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

you do realize that the compressor doesn't run at full load at all times (and maryland has long periods during the winter without rain or snow. we're currently in a drought condition)

  8. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

more like three months of AC required for cooling. i've seen winter weather there in 9 of the possible 12 months. and summers are super low humidity
  9. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

depends on the humidity level. (spent 30 years as a test engineer in the upper idaho panhandle)
  10. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

there are definitely large swathes of the country where AC is not required year round (Alaska, North Dakota, Idaho...) i still remember the 'first' energy crisis back in the 70's where the gov't was advising that those old vehicles got better gas mileage at highway speeds with the windows up...

  16. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

apparently toyota has a built in counter for their ASS system that requires a mandatory inspection of components at 384,000 cycles before resetting assuming a large number of S/S cycle per day of 100 times, that well over 10 years. (i do trust toyota engineering for longevity more than i trust...
  17. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

extremely seamless with the 7MT. pretty sure it's taking cues from the clutch pedal position while on the automatics, it has to guess intentions.
  18. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

from the OEM's perspective, the cheapest solution (with maximum benefits to them) is to leave things in the current state aka do nothing
  19. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

exactly! the corporations don't like being told to use someone else's technology (instead of in-house) that's why stellanis' vehicles with ASS/hybrid use a funky second battery that causes many issues (but it was invented there...) the ultimate version of how badly things can go when given a...
  20. EPA deregulation to kill Auto Start Stop (ASS)?

IIRC, ASS was never mandated by the EPA. ASS was the car manufacturers attempt to get a better score on the EPA driving cycle and the CAFE. there are other ways, but this was the low hanging fruit (FORD would have been required to retest with ASS turned off if that was the default startup...
