Thanks for the education. I had no idea it was such a big deal to just export a car. Importing I could imagine being more difficult to make sure the vehicle complies with whatever the regulations are in the importer's jurisdiction.
Feels like a scam. If you have that much money to pay above MSRP couldn't an overseas buyer go through a dealer and have the vehicle shipped?
This sort of thing feels like it has the fingerprints of a Nigerian Prince on it.
Yup, that is my plan for basically this week. Find another dealer who can get an order filled before the heat death of the universe and then switch my SAC build back to what I really want.
In terms of my compromise Bronco, has anyone seen anything about what is getting pulled first?
I think I...
I'm not changing necessarily, I'm going to put in a brand new order since I believe the dealer allocation formula is what is currently holding up my build, rather than any actual supply constraints.
From what I've been seeing on the forums, choosing the right dealer to place an order at is...
Are dealers being transparent with their Bronco allocation? What sorts of questions are you asking to get a sense as to how soon any given dealer is going to get your newly placed order? Should I simply be looking for high volume dealer that will do MSRP?
Hi everyone, I'm in Atlanta. I have my 7/20 reservation with SAC in WV, partially due to price, but also a family connection. However, seeing the allocations for Feb / March has me going nuts. SAC appears to have 6 scheduled builds through March and I'm over 100 back on their list.
My build is...
Agreed. Not sure why its hard to get a straight answer here. If they are painting it or have to use paint in their manufacturing process, then they should use the colors that match Ford's. That said, I mostly do computer software....so I am way out of my element. But my blacks have to match...
Modular.
What does black textured mean? Like the MIC top? Or like truck bed liner?
Can anyone guess how much it might cost to get it painted gloss black?
Completely agree on this. For a vehicle like the Bronco a PHEV could be a good way to close the gap and come closer to having it all. From what I heard, the 4xe's are selling really well. Hopefully Ford's marketing and product teams take note of that. However, given their displayed competence...
Math doesn't agree with you. From the thread I linked to, they estimate that the resistive heater takes 2-3kw, meaning it takes about 2-3% of the pack, per hour, depending on exterior temps. That is a long way from being screwed.
There is a huge amount of wasted heat and energy with an idling...
There is recycling for Lithium Ion batteries. If you are throwing batteries out in the trash you are doing it wrong. Some groups are claiming up to 96% efficiency. There are smart people thinking about these problems because there is a huge market being created to recycle batteries. The...
The people on the Rivian forums are doing that as well. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rivian-r1-endurance-during-winter-emergencies.3265/
I'm in Georgia and there was a huge ice storm here a few years ago that had people abandoning their cars on the highway, and almost all of those...
