  1. We're going on a ski trip in California this winter. Caltrans says I need to have tire chains on board. Can anyone suggest some?

Honest advice, if you're going into one of the chain control areas you should be running proper snow tires as well.
  2. Black Bronco Raptor modified with Wildtrak Brush Bar

It's Greenelane Offroad. Their stuff is nice and well priced for aluminum.
  3. 7MT Club

Instead of going straight for the gear, you can letting the stick return to the neutral position, then shift for first. It’ll take a moment longer, but it will take away the guess work.
  4. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Hmm weird. That's the first time I've seen anything pointing to the idea of that box being empty on the base. Curious to know what's actually going on there, because if it is empty I'm pulling it out when mine comes in.
  5. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Can I see a photo of your front bumper? Because the last guy in this thread who told me this had the radar transceiver. So I’m curious to see if you actually don’t. Also curious to see your research, because every photo of a base bronco I’ve seen has the transceiver. That includes the two base...
  6. Time to rethink my front plate mount

All Broncos have "Ford Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking". You can see that here. If the base mode has it, they all do. That system operates using a radar transceiver. That transceiver is located in the middle of the FMIC cutout as shown in the Bronco Owners Manual on Page...
  7. Time to rethink my front plate mount

The radar unit is the rectangular plastic box mounted in the center of the FMIC cutout. It is utilized by the adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning systems. All broncos have forward collision warning, so all broncos have the radar transceiver. It can't be in the exact location...
  8. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Yeah that black plastic rectangle in there is the housing for the radar. And I think we're safe to assume that it can't see out if you put a plate there, radar readily reflects off metals.
  9. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Your Bronco has both the forward collision camera and the radar unit exactly where Ford says they are.
  10. Time to rethink my front plate mount

I'm going off what Ford documentation says and a google search of base bronco front ends to confirm the radar unit is there. Neither is in the grill and you can see the camera in the basesquatch shot. You got a shot of your front end?
  11. Time to rethink my front plate mount

That's the camera. The radar unit is the black plastic rectangle in the FMIC cutout.
  12. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Yeah I looked at that, but I want to add foglights and all the mounts that use those mounts block the pockets where they would go. I also end up on dirt roads at night, so I was looking to add additional lights to the front bumper. Too many needs and not enough space. haha
  13. Time to rethink my front plate mount

Damn that sucks man. I got lucky with my BMW, I could buy a bracket that mounts to the front tow hook. Still trying to think about what to do when my Bronco shows up. Been thinking of building something that bolts through one of the front shackle points on the mod bumper since I don't wheel...
  14. Time to rethink my front plate mount

In a lot of states it will be an add-on ticket if you get pulled over for something else, or given to you in a parking lot by meter maids. The only time I've ever gotten a front plate ticket on it's own while driving was on Staten Island. Yeah I just double checked, all broncos have the...
  15. Time to rethink my front plate mount

I thought every bronco had the sensor? Are you logging IATs?
  16. Time to rethink my front plate mount

idk man. This fully blocks the forward collision sensor and partially blocks the FMIC.
  17. KC pro 8 light bar install on Gobi rack -- need help/tips

Hey that sounds like a cool setup once you have it all sorted. But word of advise from someone who’s been working in motorsport for a decade with stints at USAC and a major team - don’t talk about other people’s kickbacks publicly. It can cause friction in the industry if the wrong person finds...
  18. What forum members are ordering (based on build week data)

I would’ve taken a bb if ford offered mid package on it with a stick. I feel like a lot of other people are in that situation too. I don’t want to have to spend 45k just to get heated seats. I can see that, but you’re leaving out that the main reason to get the BB, the mid package, is not...
  19. Bronco lifespan

Honest question. What do you people do to cars that you brick them in 10 years? Maybe I have a different expectation on this coming from my BMWs, which are both electronics heavy and still doing fine at 15 and 25 years old. But even my '99 Mountaineer with the glass 4 speed auto is still alive...
  20. [Update: Tentative Deal Reached 9/15 to Avoid Strike!] Bronco rail train loading suspended as of 9/14 (Impending Rail Strike / Lockout)

I'd rather we just make buybacks illegal again. The US rail industry has spent 200 BILLION on them in the last 10 years. Wonder how much of the $1,600 destination charge is going straight to some speculator's pockets. 🤔 Anyway. Worker's deserve their share, especially ones as screwed over as...
