I think he means dimensional vs. metric sizes. 35x12.50R17 is a hair larger than 315/70R17.

Fixed it for you. I think you'd have a very different distribution if you looked at vehicles ordered, vs. purchased off the lot. Dealers try to buy colors that won't offend anyone, which is why they are all so bland.

Maybe the placement is intentional so it will show if you opt for the 30" tires in the base model, and everyone will know you cheaped out ?. Get a 35" tire and it's mostly concealed.
