So a little update for everyone invested, I was able to get ahold of the previous owner. He confirmed that the VIN was in place when he bought the car. He seems genuine and is looking for the paperwork from the recall. Sounds like I am going to have to get the window removed to look (probably on...
From what I can tell from your window VIN, it looks to be actually printed onto the FoMoCo label? So that means mine couldn't have simply 'fell off' or been ripped away? Mine looks as if it was never printed onto to the FoMoCo sticker.
Thank you Phil, this makes me feel a bit better as there is a possible solution. Sounds like Ford will not issue new VINs even if there is substantial proof so getting a VIN from CHP that I can use to register the vehicle is a relief if all works out. So far every VIN on the car has matched...
These are all good points. I appreciate everyone's input and advice so far. Its been less than 16 hours but I've still not heard back from the PO (not looking good on that front), and I've let Autotraders PSX department know of the problem and they are handling things on their end. I also sent a...
Ya I saw that as well. Im
Just curious as to what they are going to require. Chicken or the egg type deal. I can see them saying I need a current title and reg but I can’t get one until I have a valid VIN plate. So guess I’ll have to just traverse this and find out how screwed I am.
Title was already sent into DMV by autotrader and processed so DMV didn’t catch anything. I have the appropriate vin stickers in all the areas people have told me to look thus far (2 in engine bay, 1 on the underside of the hood, underneath the doors, on the door jam). The etched Engine block...
I'm just curious as to scammed in what way or what the motive would be, I know where the guy who sold me the car lives, his name, his paperwork. He's got the window stickers and everything as well as the documents he signed when he purchased it new. I also bought it through Autotraders PSX so...
I was wondering that as well. I may go back to DMV and point that out. Or maybe just make an appointment with CHP. I wonder if in California you have to have it in the window and anything else is considered missing
So I purchased a 2022 Badlands from a private party out of state off of Autotrader and it was delivered today (very excited). I live in California, so of course I already knew registering an out of state car was going to be a pain but when I took it for the VIN verification at DMV the employee...
Thank you for posting this, super helpful! I'm going to tackle this one of these weekends as I cant stand the orange. What size is the bungee you ordered? I assume the 1/16th?
