Completely agree. That said, it is already a complex fueling system. At some point adding more complexity (even for redundancy) will decrease overall reliability. I'm pretty sure a dual fuel pump was never considered at Ford due to cost. Would be interesting to know if any of their race prepped...

This is really interesting. In their diagnosis, the fuel pump motor seized, which then killed the module. I would have thought that an expected failure condition would be a fuel pump motor seize, which would have required the fuel pump driver module to be designed to handle that appropriately...
