  1. 📣 Ford announces MIC hardtop solution (program 21B49): unscheduled orders will get MY2022, delivered & built Broncos will have tops replaced

Well, it doesn’t actually say that FE folks will get their cars/hardtops this year. It says that all FE folks will get a 2021 Bronco. Basically it says, in effect, that the plan is to do all remaining FE production between November 2021 and late December 2021. Based on that it seems almost...
  2. Painful (but responsible) solution to MIC issue decided. Announcement imminent.

The question I'd have to this scenario is - if the MIC tops have quality issues, how do you stick the FE folks with them? Maybe the yield of "good tops" is just low, not zero, and they can somehow do this. But if that Webasto part is tainted, it seems odd to put your FE folks in that position...
  3. Painful (but responsible) solution to MIC issue decided. Announcement imminent.

And the middle name of the current Chairman's mo Yeah, there are other alternatives, but they don't scan. I think that's it - they need to start from scratch on the hard tops with another vendor.
  4. Painful (but responsible) solution to MIC issue decided. Announcement imminent.

So what would the "most responsible" solution be? I fear its going to be that Webasto is a basket case and they have to start from scratch with another source, and they're going to tell us its going to be more time. A lot more time. Nothing else makes sense when I think it through. Not that...
  5. Mike Levine's non-answer... or is it?

The fact is that he can't say anything he isn't authorized to say, and he certainly can't say something that isn't true. If calming, soothing words are not forthcoming from FoMoCo, its because there are no such words that would be true. In my experience, the usual posture of a company that has...

  7. Cyber Orange vs School Bus side-by-side

I would give anything to see that bus rock crawling.
  8. Broncos stored as far as one can see @ Wayne, MI 🔭

Oh my heck, they're burying them!
  9. Bronco production update 8/9: Commodity issues far beyond MIC tops. Chip shortage reaches Bronco supply chain (NO COVID TALK)

While I do not disagree that Ford will be reluctant to go out of pocket substantial amounts to accommodate affected customers, it is not correct to say that unanticipated expenditures won't be made because of prior market projections. When Ford provides its financial outlook each quarter, it...
  10. What are you going to do with your "free" $300 from FordPass?

a hot lunch at the Dearborn comissary
  11. Proof I didn't buy a mall crawler

Thanks for that post! This, more than anything else I've seen here lately, makes me want to tough it out and stay the course! In the meantime I'll just take out all those cravings on my SxS, but I'm waiting for something that does both rocks AND legroom! :)
  12. Bad news today… Got a call. Damaged in transport.

My condolences. That is beyond awful. I wouldn't accept it, even if they offer to fix. As painful as that is.
  13. Good News - Build Date Moved Up For First Edition Bronco Orders

Same here, though I did receive the same two emails as everyone else (late May and late June). But that's it, otherwise same boat. Oh yeah, and the poster and sticker. I'm a 2 door so I think I'm among the most deeply screwed. :-)
  14. I can no longer “Stay Pumped”

I'm with you about folks with build dates being insensitive to the majority who are just completely in the wilderness. But "scum that sells their Bronco marked up"? Can we stop this irrational hatred of flippers? For every "scummy" flipper, there's a buyer who's tickled pink to be getting the...
  15. Line in the sand ⏳

I don't think of this as a fixed timeline. I had to buy something as a DD to tide me over, but given how well used cars are doing, I don't think that will end up being a very significant cost. The way I think about it is, I'll keep open the option of buying the BFE until (if ever) something...
  16. Hot off the press… constraints on modular front bumper, 2.3L engine, 10-speed auto transmission and 4x4 system

Spins are usually more about getting rid of a business that is seen to be dragging down the financial results and/or growth of the company - say, one that requires large capex, has high costs, low ROI, low growth prospects, lots of competition with little differentiation and/or a low price to...
  17. So honest question

There's always one in the crowd who asks for something totally unreasonable.
  18. Hot off the press… constraints on modular front bumper, 2.3L engine, 10-speed auto transmission and 4x4 system

On another note - the YT video (Bronco roof rattle) from a couple of days ago really shows how shockingly shabby the headliner on the MIC roof is. Like they looked at the Jeep Wrangler and their main inspiration was the styrofoam on its interior roof. Except worse. Really a headscratcher. What...
  19. Bronco production update 8/3: More downtime expected weeks of 8/16 and/or 8/23

In all seriousness, if you take a step back, the whole episode suggests there is something deeply amiss at Ford. Yes, they've had their flubs before, but this one - seemingly endless and incurable and accompanied by an absolute disaster of a communication strategy - is one for the record books...
  20. Bronco production update 8/3: More downtime expected weeks of 8/16 and/or 8/23

Ford stopped making almost all of its passenger cars so it could focus its full US effort on trucks and SUVs, its meat-and-potatoes. The Bronco launch is one of the first fruits of this new focused strategy. Other things that looked good on paper: Pearl Harbor. The Bay of Pigs. Operation...
