  1. Eruption Green Bronco Raptor spotted!

That's infinitely better. But, it might not "fit in the spray booth". What a crock.
  2. Eruption Green Bronco Raptor spotted!

Too many panties were getting bunched, mods were afraid someone would get inured.
  3. Eruption Green Bronco Raptor spotted!

I think I just erupted a little in the back of my throat. That color doesn't help. Waiting for Black.
  4. Update on Heritage edition?

Definitely waiting for something like a Heritage. Seems Ford would rather pump a ton of money and R&D into their expensive models that appeal to the 1% of their buyers, than make actual models they could build with parts off the shelf. Look how well the reasonably priced Maverick is selling...
  5. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

It definitely would be embarrassing for Ford if someone documented the failure mode and made it public. They'd almost have to respond then if it took off. I suspect Ford is completely aware of the range and scope of the problem by now. They've done the cost analysis and are just going to wait...
  6. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

The price of an engine and installation. The possibility exists you could just do a valve job and replace a piston, depending on the damage. Good opportunity for someone who wants to build up an engine anyway.
  7. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I think I suggested this in a post somewhere. Problem is you'd void your warranty repair. Normally, you might be able to pay a dealer mechanic to take it apart for you on his own time, but since this is a warranty thing, and hush-hush, that's not an option either. Those damaged engines are...
  8. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Sure, we did some engine work. Valve guide seals, crankshaft bearings as PM, noisy lifters, walnut shell intake blasting. Components like valves, pistons, shafts, not so much.
  9. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

That's exactly what they will do. They will rebuild the replaced heads off-site. Generally, they don't do component level engine repair at the dealer anymore. (Worked at a dealership for years).
  10. Update: No resolution in sight for wrecked Bronco, over three months later.

Howdy. Same. 2 years body school, 10 years body and frame repair, 20 years at my own shop. Sure it will be fine, but it won't be the same. Something always tells of a repair, eventually, and I can usually find that tell in 5 minutes, if not immediately.
  11. Update: No resolution in sight for wrecked Bronco, over three months later.

Mmmmaybe not. Parts availability could be an issue and the Bronco might be worth a fortune at the salvage auction. There is also the diminished value card to play if you prefer it totaled. I'd communicate your preference with the adjuster. I wouldn't want it back either, a wrecked car is...
  12. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Unless they are forced to, Ford isn't going to voluntarily say or do a thing other than fix the vehicle under warranty. There is no benefit to the widespread bad publicity, it's better to just disappoint a handful of customers. I'd bet the mechanics at the dealer aren't even allowed to take...
  13. Nickname Suggestions For Iconic Silver Badlands

Yeah, Silver Stallion sounds like the geriatric lead in an adult film. If I had to buy a 4-door I'd call it the Broncowagon. Think . . . horses, wagon train . . .
  14. 💰 2022 Bronco Raptor Starting Price: $69,995

I'd rather have a naturally aspirated V8 over a twin turbo V6 any day. Less mechanical complexity for the same power.
  15. Do/can we have a Bronco meme thread?

Updated the infographic, maybe this is better. For the sensitive, Bronco Wagon isn't an insult. Think G-Wagon, Broncos, horses, wagon train. I think having to describe your Bronco as 2-door or 4-door is lame. Broncowagon sounds cool to me. Bronco Sport, meh, Bronco III would have been...
  16. Local Dealer Has A51 FE For Sale w/Only 70 Miles on the clock

That's pretty much any car, isn't it? Some of the prices for low mileage common cars from 30 years ago are bringing a fortune. I just don't see the First Edition Bronco being special enough to pull anything more than a novelty fee in 5 or 10 years. If you keep almost any Bronco mint for 30...
  17. Local Dealer Has A51 FE For Sale w/Only 70 Miles on the clock

I really don't see the First Edition being an investment vehicle. Right now it's the newest thing and some people pay top dollar to have the latest and greatest.
  18. 💰 2022 Bronco Raptor Starting Price: $69,995

Meh, nothing to worry about, how much fuel could it possibly use.
  19. Poll who wants the new Ford Bronco Raptor?

I can't help but see the Raptor logo as a sketch in a notebook for the name of a high school garage band. The blond kid with the Les Paul is killin' it though.
