I'm not familiar with ecoboosts, but it looks like the electronic throttle body is right on the inlet to the turbo and the recirculate valve is in the output right above it. Is the high pressure fuel rail under a sound cover? I can't pick that out clearly.
I don't see this mentioned very often, but often times an SUV like say a Grand Cherokee will have a tow rating that is 5,000 lbs. It will also state a maximum frontal area. Many folks tow large campers with a Nissan Xterra or Jeep Wrangler and don't realize how much they're shortening the life...
They weren't using cruise control. The AEB (automatic emergency braking) systems were killing engine power and applying brakes due to rain and snow and sometimes plastic bags and other debris blowing across the road.
Like ESC which was mandated in 2012 for all passenger cars in the USA, AEB and CIB systems will probably be mandated eventually. AEB is automatic emergency braking and CIB is crash imminent braking. These systems use the same radar that ACC does to see and predict whether or not a driver could...
When we bought our 2018 Highlander, the salesmen said toyotas came with all the safety features standard on them. It's not real surprising since Toyota pretty commonly has limited options/packages on new cars.
I used to build ford superduty harnesses at night when I was in high school (14401...
Yes, I do. And I don't want the car making gas or brake decisions for me just because most people can't be bothered to concentrate on driving when behind the wheel. There are numerous articles on size of the vehicle being followed and plastic bags causing issues with adaptive cruise control...
I don't want any type of interference on the steering wheel or brakes, but with new cars it's difficult to avoid. My wife's Toyota Highlander has the lane holding feature, and shadows on the road confuse it sometimes. At least you can disable it once and not have to worry about it unlike auto...
I'd be all for a fixed roof too. Doors off is helpful for crawling, but I don't really care for the sun or rain beating down on me. I've never had any love for convertibles.
Ford has made it such a pain in the ass to modify the sound system that I'd want that upgrade, but I wouldn't be willing to pay for all the other crap. Typical ford. The crap stereo on my base 2015 Mustang GT was a big part of why I sold it. Jeep seems to have gone the same direction on the...
JK wranglers have the zip up padded covers on their roof structure. I hid my CB coax and some rear flood light relay wires under the zippered covers. Most jeep wrangler folks go through foam at the corner of the dash to get to the hinge area under the hood when running aux relay wires to front...
Without the vacuum disconnect or other disconnect on the hub end of the ford trucks, the CV joints and boots will wear out faster spinning all the time, especially when the CV joints are "angled. See also: fuel economy reasons.
I sold a 2015 Mustang GT in February and bought a 2020 STI. There's no way I'm getting rid of the STI. It's too nice of a daily driver. I daily drove my jeep wrangler for five years before getting the STI. The mustang was fun, but even stock it was so traction limited and not that...
I've been doing five tire rotations on the jeep. You could just move the jack around and do it that way with five, but I jack mine up and put the axles on stands. Much easier than all the four tire rotations on trucks and unibody cars.
I'm guessing maybe he means the tires will scallop, flare, etc. if you don't rotate them often enough. I do chalk tests on my tires to set tire pressure. This is especially needed when you buy oversized offroad tires that may be a different load range than the OEM tires.
I put my wrangler rubicon in 4LO, toggle the lockers on and off, and use the swaybar disconnect monthly. I have heard stories of some lockers wearing such that lock rings will not engage. I've also helped people troubleshoot their transfer cases on part time 4 wheel drive vehicles when it...
As long as ford designed the oil and cooling system to handle the high power density and extra heat in the water and oil from the turbo it should be ok. For a while. Making 100HP for hours on the highway is different in a 5.0L V8 than it is for a 2.3L I4.
The 3.8L 60* iron block OHV V6 was used in the 2007 to 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK (oil burners). It made from 197 to 215HP and 230 to 245 lbft of torque. It had no variable valve timing, and it made wranglers like tractors to drive--not much fun on the road...
