The Ford produced Defender, which had a lot of features adapted into the Bronco, also had it (110 inch WB) . I found it incredibly useful. Since it was also modular it could be turned into a pickup type vehicle quickly.
My 1978 Bronco was my dedicated off roader until i discovered the Land Rover Series3 and Defender vehicles. Ironically, Ford owned Land Rover at its Defender peak (2000-2008). Ford clearly learned a lot from the Defender and in my estimation surpassed it with the 6G Bronco. Which is why i...
I have the automatic. I was forced to get it as a compromise because my wife doesn't drive a manual very well. My last several 4x4's (Ford Bronco Gen 2, F250 and Land Rover) were all manuals. I am a sworn manual guy. Bottom line; I actually like the automatic in the Bronco...very much...
Or anyone living in places like central Idaho where avalanches, blizzards and mud slides can close a highway for hours or days. Large trees also regularly fall across the highways in bad storms. I was a Boy Scout in a previous century , so i always try to be prepared....
A flat blade garden shovel, an Ax and 20 foot Jumper cables (in their factory case) fit nicely under mine. The handles are zip tied together with the business ends pointed out, one on each side . and the axe blade is protected with a rubber cover. Very had to photograph.
I too never payed a lot of attention to gasoline quality , except for Octane rating and ethanol free for equipment. I have been driving mainly turbo diesels the past twenty years. Fuel quality was never much of an issue, even in Africa. I changed my attitude when I was researching the...
I always prefer analogs with no batteries.... Mounted this above the Aux switches with double stick tape, slides out of the holder if you decide to go for a hike.
I have had two passenger side windows literally blow up on me. The first was in Africa on a hot day. i actually thought someone had taken a potshot at me. The second was on my F 250 about 4 years ago. Well below zero and the window had just exploded overnight. In both cases the glass all...
I always keep a little D-Con in a plastic cap or other suitable container somewhere in the engine bay. No problems in the past 20 years. Works for squirrel sand chipmunks too.
So much so that they are selling Knock off's (Grenadiers) for as much money as the Defender which has now been feminized and ruined and doesn't even look like a Defender.. But if you ever saw the newest jaguar ads you won't be surprised.
Wind noise and lack of good internal storage compartment's, both of which are very minor in the scheme of things. I am surprised at the number of windshield chip reports. I drove the "green oval" brick, pictured in my Avatar, and never got one chip. (Ford owned Land Rover at the time). Up...
I would like to know if any Bronco owners have used gas which has been stored with Stabil? I store about 15 gallons of 91 Octane, Non Ethanol, every year with Stabil. I live rurally and use it in all of my 2 cycle engines (Chainsaw, riding mower, push mower, tiller, etc.) This year I...
I use a Lasher shovel from South Africa (https://lasher.co.za/shovel-square-mouth-steel-shaft-mc2-fg00350/ ). I have seen them sold in this country but couldn't find a current link. It's got a steel shaft, virtually unbreakable one piece. It fits nicely under the rear seat although it is hard...
