  1. 2021+ Bronco Workshop Manual (6th Gen) now live

Not sure I agree there. The hook is welded onto the same bracket that loops around and holds the intercooler flange bolts. So the load passes from the hook to the bracket to the magenta bolts and then to the frame. There won’t be any problems if the truck is being pulled forward, like it...
  2. 2021+ Bronco Workshop Manual (6th Gen) now live

Hold on a sec, is that the plastic intercooler flange bolted onto the same bracket as the recovery hooks?
  3. Boron Steel Performance in Bronco Sport Under Jaws of Life

This stuff is mainly used for the passenger safety cell, so if a crash got to the point where you’d be worried about the Fortiform parts, there’s a 99.9999% chance the car is already totaled anyways. Now the aluminum body panels are a different story...they are going to be expensive and...
  4. 5/28 Bronco Production Update E-mail & Dealer Insight FAQ 📬

Didn’t go through 51 pages of this thread to check...but with the top shortage are they wiring soft tops and hard tops the same now? Because I thought I saw somewhere that factory soft tops weren’t wired for the rear wiper. Would be crazy if customers paying $40-70k and foregoing a hardtop to...
  5. Traxxas RC Bronco announced. Maybe I can at least get thisto tide me over...

Damn these have come a long way in the last 20Y! I had a mid-price battery powered RC Baja type truck back then and it would suck down the 1.5 Ah battery in about 10 mins. With that kind of range there’s no point in the single cylinder gas powered ones any more.
  6. Traxxas RC Bronco announced. Maybe I can at least get thisto tide me over...

    What’s the battery mileage lol?
  7. The gas shortage.

Colonial moves gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. This would actually be a huge deal for air travel if there were more people flying.
  8. First Fuel Economy Numbers Seen on Window Sticker = 16.9 MPG (converted) for Sasquatch Badlands 4-Door Bronco 2.7L

Can’t say I’m surprised, this thing is is literally a rolling brick pushing 3 tons on 35” M/T tires with short gearing, a boosted V6, and the active grille shutters deleted. It is physically impossible to even approach 20 mpg in mixed driving with that combo, and in the real world I would...
  9. First Fuel Economy Numbers Seen on Window Sticker = 16.9 MPG (converted) for Sasquatch Badlands 4-Door Bronco 2.7L

There are no differences between the US and Canada test cycles. NRCAN doesn’t call them out by name because Canada but they use the exact same 5 cycle methods for the window sticker as the EPA. So just convert the metric and imperial stuff to US units and that’s what we’ll get, barring any...
  10. First Fuel Economy Numbers Seen on Window Sticker = 16.9 MPG (converted) for Sasquatch Badlands 4-Door Bronco 2.7L

Canada uses the exact same EPA test cycles (MFGs just use their US numbers for Canada) so aside from the unit conversions it will be the same.
  11. 2021 Ford Bronco Full Tech Specs

It’ll help knock out PCV oil carryover but it won’t do anything for EGR exhaust soot or condensation. I haven’t seen inside a DI-only + EGR engine before so no idea how much of a problem it can cause. Although I’ve been searching the Ranger forums and it doesn’t sound like they are seeing...
  12. 2.3 EcoBoost Oil Change

Checked this on a 2.3 BL 7MT at our dealer viewing last week. I wish Ford had a better solution considering this is a small inline 4 under a big hood, but there are worse out there (like the PITA skid plate blocking the cartridge filter on Tundras). General config is the same as the Ranger...
  13. 2.3 Ecoboost: Changes made for Ranger duty

The EGR also puts a ton of crap into the intake manifold which ends up on the valves. This is manageable if you have port injection like the 2.7 V6, but it’s still not ideal. For example, a late model port injected Camry I worked on had almost no buildup, while the latest generation with...
  14. 2021 Ford Bronco Full Tech Specs

The dual port/direct injection on the 2.7 is a big plus. At a Bronco viewing last week I looked underhood and noticed that both of these engines use cooled EGR for emissions control. For the DI-only 2.3 that means the intake valves get hit with oil mist from the PCV AND cold exhaust from the...
  15. NEW HORSEPOWER / TORQUE SPECS for 2021 Bronco 2.3L and 2.7L

If the Bronco isn’t flex fuel rated, it will run rough and lean if it runs at all and the E85 can eventually chew up the fuel system. If it is flex fuel rated, it should run fine but the MPG will be at least 20-30% worse because it packs less BTUs per gallon than E10.
  16. Newest Accessories Catalog For 2021 Bronco

Didn’t cross my mind before, but it doesn’t look like there will be easy access to the hidden under floor storage locker even when the tray is pulled out. Anyone heard anything on that front?
  17. Rear seat recline angle photos (vs unreclined)

I tried this out at our local dealer event this week. As the tape measure showed, the change in angle is so negligible I don’t know why they bothered with the feature. Wonder if there’s any way to mod it or change the stops? That said, I found the seat more comfortable than I expected...
  18. Manual Transmission Throw Length

I got to sit and row the gears in the 7MT BL 4D displayed at my local dealership earlier this week. Throws are a bit longer than the TR3650 5MT in my S197 Mustang, but not as much longer as you might think. It’s much tighter than any MT truck I’ve ever driven, so that’s a good thing.
  19. Manual Transmission Q&A Master Thread

So I got to see the 7MT in person this week during the local dealership viewing. It was 4D BL softtop with the MGV washout interior. My current daily is a 2010 Mustang GT with the 5MT Tremec 3650 and stock shift linkage, so that's my comparison point for the parked row through the gears...
  20. 3D Scans + Dimensions of 4-Door Bronco Cargo Area (and vs Outback)

Not cross shopping, I already have an Outback in the household. The key for the wife was that anything meaningfully smaller inside than the Outback is a nonstarter. Luckily the Bronco wasn’t!
