Itās mostly because tubular is considered āold schoolā and most racks are getting away from it. I personally like the tubular and it IS stronger. I saw a video of Jeep that rolled and they righted it up by winching to the GOBI. I doubt other brands could have handled that. Nonetheless, please...
Define quick?? My awning mounts with 3 brackets (3 bolts) and can remove w/in minutes with a socket or wrench. With quick release sometimes comes weakness so be careful. Mounting anything āto the GOBIā is pretty specific as itās tubular as you know, so this kinda limits you to GOBI solutions.
The ROOFNEST hardshell that opens up/sideways might be best for you. I think the FSR EVO might be tight with large dog at your feet but would be cozy/warm.
I measured my rack today (one of original orders) and it looks like GOBI raised the newer version .50ā
Second pic dimension of 12ā is from lower edge of roof panel
Most definitely Heavy. 6680 is very heavy. I havenāt weighed yet but estimated 5980 w/o people and misc gear. Just w all my add ons. Heavy is working perfectly so far
Added a LED 700 lumen light under hood for those nighttime needs to diagnose something. I have 2 lights so plan to mount other in the cargo area. In looking for clean home for the switch the ARB Compressor had a perfect fit hole in itās housing and switch lives there nowā¦.Pretty cool actually...
Finally got GOBI installed and tried out w new RTT (in my driveway). Clears garage door seal by 1.5ā
LOVE the GOBI and driving around with tops off.
Still waiting for GOBI to announce a side accessory rack!!!
Not sure yet what trip but still some bugs to work thru. I desperately need a wind deflector and will come up with something like this. Maybe GOBI has one I could use/modify to work
Mounted Freespirit Evolution 2 RTT yesterday. Used my pulley system and worked great. Bolts to mount tent to crossbars are super extra long and are hitting the mesh of the GOBI rack. I will cut at least an inch of each bolt today. Tent looks great. Took for a drive with roof panels off and tent...
Rack all done, lights all done (for now). So little left to do (for now) ;) Itās never done. Still got ICON tie rods and RC steering rack bushings but I will take a break for a few days. Iām beat.
Maybe today Iāll try the RTT on and take some pics
Today was a long day but got the GOBI rack installed and one ladder on. Used my RTT pulley system to lift rack over the Bronco and worked great. I had a couple mishaps. I need to look again but donāt recall GOBI saying take 2 small screws going thru back roof and truck sides. But I ripped those...
Todayās accomplishment was to install the GOBI pivot bracketsā¦These were quite challenging but I finished. I didnāt take any photos during the process but I can tell what you see at the end is the tip of the iceburg. The structure behind that pivot point is quite involved, beefy and takes many...
