I live at 8750ā so I need tires that work in the mountains and snow. I have Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT and Iām happy with them. On my truck I have Toyo ATIII which are also very good tires. Turn off road tire carrier, 37ā tire are heavy.

Maybe ICON has a manufacturing error on that boot. When I installed mine it was difficult but doable, I certainly had to fuss with it to get the boot on.
Iām disappointed with the Bronco, what you did should not have broken the CV. Maybe the combination of the lift with regular wheeling is just too much wear on the CV. Please post the damage after you tear it apart, I know Iām very curious to see the wear and damage.
I think this is a great thread. A couple of points I would like to stress for safety. Always know your weak point in the system and understand what will happen with a failure. And be very cognizant of damaged gear a chafed rope or strap is the most likely point of failure.
I made a couple of rear shock skids, they havenāt taken any hits yet so Iām not sure how effective they are yet. I have a lot of hits on the gas tank skid and the rear control arm pivot points. Maybe thatās just my drivingš

I used 3/16 plate a 4x8 sheet was about $250 and that is enough to cover then entire vehicle. I was going to add some support structure in addition to where I mounted the plate but the Spans are not very far and it seems very strong.
I just added a transmission skid, I bolted it directly to the cross members. I added a couple of nut plates to the cross members and a few studs to the Disco skid. Next the transfer case skid then the engine skid.
