Alright y’all. Tomorrow is the big day.
You may recall that my EG Base 2dr was delivered with some transit damage to the hood and grille…definitely a bummer. Ford says at least a month before the replacement parts can come in. Double bummer.
So I’m electing to take delivery and drive it in...
Here ya go, just for you and @KKCSHIPP...first thing I'm doing is replacing the tires with 285-75/16s, or maybe 265-75/16s, but on the stock rims either way.
I actually kind of like the old-school look of these rims, particularly with this color, plus a color-matching (Factory Silver) classic...
You know, that’s a good point re: new hood—thanks. They were talking body shop repair to the hood, which really might be fine. The dents seem to be “gentle” (like no hard crisp folds), and the paint seems to be ok.
But to your point—if the body shop repair isn’t flawless, maybe I do ask for a...
I dunno where my truck was...this to me looks like (and I'm totally guessing here) that it was maybe on the lower level, and the upper level ramp came down on it or something.
Such a kick in the teeth, though...SO CLOSE!
The service department manager is gonna look at it on Monday; the salesman didn't want to open the hood without someone from the tech team there, which I appreciate. So I'll probably go in on Monday to meet with the service people to see whether they think anything other than the hood and...
Austin, but I really have to say that this is not in any way on the dealer--it was delivered to them in this condition. So either the train companies or whoever trucked it up from the train yard to the dealership.
My dealership has been really communicative, sympathetic, and generous...
That's really good to hear, and I really appreciate your detailed feedback. I'm gonna go ahead and keep the 33s. The only hold up: my truck arrived at the dealership this morning with transport damage. So now I gotta wait for that to be evaluated and fixed. The saga continues...
Will do...I have to say that Maxwell has been good through all of this. Even before this happened, they committed to MSRP (as they have for folks who already picked their rides up from them). They're saying that they'll be all over the repairs first thing Monday when the service dept. opens...
Yeah, I thought about that, but if it's purely cosmetic and they can fix it promptly, I probably won't raise a stink. It's not the dealer's fault, and definitely not the salesman's fault (who makes his living off of commissions, I assume). I just wanna get in writing that they'll take...
So, got a call from my dealer; good news/bad news, he said: Bronco has arrived, but there’s transport damage to the hood and grill. So basically this vehicle I’ve waited 1.5 years on has already been in an accident. Plus obviously can’t go get her today, so the frickin’ wait goes on...
Oh man, you’re so close to that railyard (Kirby - New Braunfels). So close yet so far.
If it makes you feel any better, my Bronco is probably right there with yours. It arrived in Kirby earlyTuesday 1/18, and by dealer is right up I35 in south Austin, but UnitedRoad has always shown...
Thanks, yeah—I’ve seen enough folks on here and elsewhere who went to 33s with no problem (looking at you, @BudgetBronco) that I think I’m gonna keep the order. But I’m still a bit nervous between all the talk of gear ratios, load rating, unsprung and rotational weight, potential for popped...
