I never said itās changing the rate. A spacer for stock shocks or the ones with moveable perches like the biltstein 6100 units is compressing the spring more at the extended position of the shock which increases preload.
Spacers are just adding more preload to the spring to stiffen things up and in turn increase lift. It gives you less travel overall before the spring is fully compressed
