I don't know if it's been discussed in this thread, but one of the characteristics of a short wheel base like my JK wrangler and this new two door bronco is the extreme urge to swap ends in curves and the instability at speed on the highway. Four door wranglers feel a much better at speed. My...
I really want a set of highway tires like Michelin LTXs or Defenders for normal day to day and something like BFGoodrich KM2s for denting the undercarriage. Most importantly, I want a fricken TPMS system I can swap wheels and sensors on without having to marry the new sensors to the vehicle...
Automatics make warranty protection of the drivetrain a lot easier too. Torque management and fuel economy are easier to control, all the while providing a Toyota like driving experience--which sucks.
I've been looking at newer GT mustangs, and I own a 2015 GT mustang. The digital instrument cluster is an option usually found on Premium cars, but not all of them. I would say screw the digital crap, just more to break and have no replacement in 15 years. However, even the analog gauges are...
That star trek actor got crushed by his grand Cherokee, and a few other folks getting hurt are why all these wonderful nannies exist. If it saves just one child...
[/sarcasm]
I hate nannies too.
It could have fake wood paneling around the exterior, but if the drivetrain is good, I'd still want it. If it looks good and has a ranger drivetrain, no thanks.
I ride motorcycles and drive manual cars everyday. I never take it out of gear and let the clutch. I'm always in gear and ready to go in the event something happens. New hydraulic clutches are nothing compared to some of the old heavy pressure plate cable clutches like the 2003 Cobra I had. I...
Ford can't match Toyotas reliability, but I bet they're going to try to sell the bronco for as much as a forerunner. All of Toyota's cars feel anemic and underpowered, but that may be why they are so reliable. I don't like their engine controllers respond to gas pedal movement with their...
I've been to a few tight trails like Beasley Knob OHV trails near Blairsville in north Georgia where the four door wrangler guys said they felt like they were driving school buses.
This is what I like to do from time to time. Back when my rubicon was stock (32" tire) other than control arm...
I always wanted a 2 door wrangler, so I got a base 2 door with the rubicon package. I love the manual transmission, manual windows, manual, locks, manual mirrors, manual transfer case, and the damn key that goes in an ignition cylinder. :D
I added a superduty backup camera to my 2010 F150 after I bought it used. The cab harness didn't have the wires for the camera, the plug for the rear view mirror is different, and the body harness didn't have the camera or power wires to the tailgate in it. I also had to buy a new rear view...
The Godzilla engine was designed to pass emissions and be reliable at low rpm with long oil change intervals. It can make big numbers, but you'd probably be better off with a coyote or hurricane variant if you want power. However, with enough money, you can do anything, right?
I live within 30-45 minutes of all sorts of rock crawling opportunities. I'm probably a rare consumer. I actually bought my $30k rubicon to rock crawl and offroad. I don't like removeable tops. I don't mind rock rashing aluminum wheels when I have to.
Most of my offroad friends sold their...
Looking at Ford's page today, I still don't know what they're making, so I can't vote in this poll. Based on my experience with newer ford cars, I'm not optimistic. I definitely don't want a four cylinder. Unfortunately, ford like's to make their special or power package cars chock full of...
After driving my two door jeep through winding pothole covered mountain interstates this morning in the rain, I am reminded of why IFS is desired for road travel. I need to get a different daily driver.
I say this all the time on car forums, but the best features of my 2015 JK Wrangler Rubicon are: manual windows, manual locks, manual transmission, manual transfer case, manual ignition. Not many new vehicles are that interesting to me.
On my 2015 wrangler two door, true 33"x10.5" tires rub on the front lower control arms at steering lock on stock offset wheels and a 2.5" lift. If I run offset wheels or 1.5" spacers there's no problem. The tires in particular are 17" 34x10.45 BFG KO2s. They only measure 33" when mounted on...
I think Ford is well on its way to being another Chrysler. My wife's 2012 Focus had the shuddering first gear issue for a couple years before ford offered to fix it under warranty. The "myfordistouched" system had all sorts of reset and failure issues in it too. My wife's 2013 explorer had a...
