That’s what I’m trying to figure out. What is the wheel travel for the “high clearance suspension” (Sasquatch)? There’s plenty of speculation but nothing definitive. I want technical details and specifications—please Help me Ford!
I figured it would be less than the "Unique BL Suspension", but I'm worried that it will be less than the base suspension-which looks to be barely adequate for how I plan to use my Bronco. BL was my first choice (first day reservation), but after thinking it through, I'd be paying A LOT for...
Hmmm... All the references I found between the SAS and BL suspensions were for static height (not travel), with 10mm commonly stated. I'm hoping for published specifications.
Thirty years of off-roading (both IFS and SFA 4x4s) has taught me that one of the most important vehicle elements is suspension travel/articulation, regardless of whether or not you have lockers. My experience is that IFS vehicles tend to lift tires much more often and much higher than SFA...
Hmmm. I don't think you misunderstood Brad (although there are different levels of rock crawling). I hope I stand to be corrected and can't wait to see for myself. Not sure I'll be willing to take my Basesquatch on Metal Masher (one of my favorite Moab trails) right away though.
I didn't say they can't rock crawl well. I said not as well as a SFA, especially with the same size tires and lockers. My 98 Cherokee with 31" tires, sway bar disconnects and open diffs (pretty comparable to a Base 6G Bronco) could easily do what those videos show, and probably not lift a tire...
I’ve had 3 lifted Jeeps and zero death wobble. DW is almost always the result of cheap lifts and/or not understanding the geometries and limitations of SFA setups. I’ve also had a couple IFS trail rigs. They definitely ride better but don’t rock crawl nearly as well.
With 31” tires and open...
I thought I had finalized my build (BD, Area 51 or CG, with auto transmission and auto t-case), but then I saw this post, started reading through the Basesquatch posts, and changed my mind. The Basesquatch is simply an awesome value for a very capable trail rig straight from the plant! On top of...
GVWR is definitely something to consider. At some point, the weight of your gear is simply too much for your roof rack, shocks or springs causing them to wear out prematurely or worse. Your driving style and the roughness of the roads you drive are other considerations too. I've bent roof rack...
If Jeep had offered a 2-door Gladiator--I'd already own one! People, me included, have begged Jeep for a 2-door option, but they seem content to tell us what we want. Maybe when sales plummet, they'll start listening. Ford got it right--they listened to what we want!
