@Beach_Bum. Thanks! Anything beats having to get out in -20, like when I lived in AK w/ my International Harvester Scout, and having to manually turn the wheel hubs!
Well, I look at it this way: I am so much safer and worry-free driving the ranch roads in Steamboat than I was with Merlin, my 1995 Mustang, which had to be winched out of a muddy ditch one time. And while we're taking mud, a plug for Rokblok flaps (the only option that was open to me on a Base...
Thanks. With the Base, I am missing the mode I wanted most: Mud & Ruts. The ranch where I work is now hock high in mud puddles gouging out the dirt roads. My high-tech Internet security expert hubby won't let me near FORScan.
Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the photos. Steamboat is pretty muddy from ranch ruts. The Rokbloks rock! No mud on doors! Maybe do a 1/3 reunion........
Yes, here in NorCal, the difference is only 10¢/gal. On our trip to the desert, I wanted the psychological edge of being able to have more mileage in between what I imagined were widely spaced gas stations. And we had made the decision not to carry a 5-gal spare jug.
My perhaps irrational...
I got called back to this thread thru a Like, and now I have to post an update to the effect that I got seduced into using premium after our recent trip to the Mojave when we got 27 miles/gal in Normal mode.
I went from a '95 Mustang to my '22 Bronco. I felt like an idiot not being able to start it, however, there is a message that comes up on the screen, like, "Ignition for Dummies."
Rest of the trip was great. It was fun to be at the Film Festival again. Highlights were riding a mule through the movie scenes in Alabama Hills and touring the scenes for Randolph Scott's "7 Men From Now," Hopalong Cassidy's Bar 20 ranch, and Rod Cameron's "Panhandle"--with his son, Tony...
@Jazer @Pseudoko -- I might try to deal with Kyle by phone and mail for the key--I shouldn't have to go down there. Mojave Ford rush ordered the fob and squoze me in to program it, but didn't have time to get the emergency key (which I didn't even know existed inside the fob!) in the 24 hrs I...
Love Kyle and all NBF! But they're an hour away, so not practical for dealing with small things. The Ford in my town is so annoying, disappointing. Never return calls, are snippy when you do get a hold of them, have poor or no info on things they should know.
On this trip I had to replace my...
Greetings from the Mojave Desert. Steamboat was made for this, and for climbing a sandhill road back in Lone Pine. A tense few minutes, but he did it in 4WH. Flaps got a workout, too. Now we know why they call 'em Rokbloks.
Thanks for the tips! I will be riding through the Alabama Hills on horseback with the McGee Creek Pack station, to places in the rocks where the old Westerns were shot. Will check out Copper Top--hubby is a big BBQ fan. Our favorite is Seasons in Lone Pine for dinner and the Alabama Hills Cafe...
Nice to hear from you! Got the Rokblokz front flaps, really the only option for non-Sas with sidesteps.
Finally, our much dreamed of trip to the desert! Going down to Lone Pine for the Western Film Festival, then out to the Mojave. Was going to be Death Valley, but much of that is closed due to...
No remorse whatsoever. I adore our Steamboat, 2d Eruption Green Base Camp w/ aftermarket sidesteps and ceramic coating. I bought him for the ranch where I work (equine-assisted learning and therapy) and couldn't be happier. For 19 years I drove there in an old 5L Mustang and winced with every...
AFAIK, no '22's actually got built, much less delivered, in December. My original build was, like, 12/16 and we all got bumped to Jan 3 at the earliest. I had a 1/9 build, Valentine's Day delivery. (2 weeks in the rail yard)
Anyone who truly thinks they are a First Batcher can have my patch for...
