I've been going back and forth for a while, but I'm leaning towards upgrading just the dash/rear pod speakers (JBL 422s), and then adding a subwoofer in the trunk. Kicker makes a series of downfiring slim boxes that you can stack stuff on top of, so I'll likely go that route to maximize trunk...
Nice! New tires are definitely on the list for my Outer Banks at some point - I think I'm going with the Toyos too. First on the agenda is replacing the car stereo, though. Probably going to wait on pulling the trigger until it's at least built and in transit.
The JBLs do sound very good - total steal for the price. Did you run into any issues with fitment in the dash or pods? Noticed that the mounting depth is a tad bigger than some of the others in the 4" size...
I don't think it would void the warranty. Based on everything I've seen, the biggest pain would be the front speakers in the kick panels. The 4" in the dash and rears (outside of possibly some custom wiring/splicing) should be pretty straightforward. Amp/sub shouldn't be any different than...
Got one too earlier this afternoon (July ‘21 reservation). I have an easier build (OBX 4dr 2.3 nonsquatch, only sin is the MIC top), but will still feel insanely lucky to see it before next summer!
Super interesting - I ordered from my July '21 reservation this AM and put down $1k on an OBX. Nothing put down prior outside of the initial $100 for the reservation.
