Yeah the dongar adapter fits in the void above the mirror. No need to run an additional wire (and less complexity) is better in my opinion. It is a little bulky but it does fit.

My hunch is it's because they build the drawer box to fit a few vehicles ( jeep etc) and then make the border pieces to fit the specific vehicles. They just don't have a design for a smaller 2dr vehicle. That's my guess.
