Now do I know if the engines are equipped with cam phasers? Got me, but all that input
is destined for some function one way or another...

Ford OEM flaps are part of my order and they look to match up well with your pics without modifying the flap.
Not sure what process the coating application uses but you may want to take a peek for the sensor yourself to see if it had been disturbed.
