It's a tough world out there. If a manufacturer is going to be scared off by customers challenging them and the product, they probably should turn off the lights and go home. If they offer a good product at a realistic price, people will buy. Nobody likes a business that plays games.
I laugh every time I see someone comment they look good. It's only a render folks. They don't even have a real top fitted according to ADV yet, so even they don't know if it's going to work.
One thing with Ford is they have the resources to sell it cheaper than a 3rd party and still make a bigger profit. I wouldn't count Ford out of this game.
The thing with the mod top though is that you will be able to buy it already painted and it will have 3 removable sections and the clamshell. It will have all of the wiper/defrost hookups and possibly more. if you order it on your build, no extra shipping charge driving the price higher. Ford...
My understanding is they offer it in primer and you find your own shop to do the painting. I'm betting the pricing shown today is for the most basic top, so painting will have you reaching pretty deep into your pocket.
The Patriot top looks like a lot of thought has gone into it. It appears to be taller than any offering from any source which would translate into more cargo space and an overall more spacious feeling.
Absolutely for me. The pricing doesn't specify if it's for the textured top or primered top. If it's the one in primer, figure at least $2k more for paint and $1k for shipping and you still have a less functional top than Ford will offer. I'll wait for Ford.
I think if it were higher then that, waiting for the Ford option is the way to go just for the warranty and the front is 2 much easier to store sections.
Haven't the MIC tops that have been painted being quoted at around $2k? I hope you have your Bronco already if they're quoting 6k for paint, they'll probably quote $15k ADM.
The difference though is Ford provides the warranty on the Webasto top. That means if it comes with the Bronco, it falls under the 3 year 32k warranty. The ADV may or may lot have a lot of fine print in their warranty.
