Back in the day, no truck came with gearing for large tires, they just dealt with it. My manual ‘88 Ranger had 3.73 with 33x12.5 BFG MT’s and did just fine…
At the Local Grocer yesterday a guy called out ”that’s a very nice Bronco, the colors look great”, I replied “thanks very much” 😃 then he followed up with “it’s really pretty”… I replied “pretty”???🤨 he quickly said “well, I mean in a manly off-road sense” 😅

You may not need them as a step but they along with front mud flaps work wonders in protecting the sides from the tires throwing rocks…and now you got a naked pinch weld…😝
