I'm rocking an FSR Aspen Lite. I wanted to go with the lightest tent I could get that still had some insulation in it. (There are lighter ones but they are similar in construction and materials to a Walmart coleman tent). It's a "softshell" so you have to be mindfull of wheeling it around trees...
As someone who has had their front in and out three times now its not too bad. I have one of those cheap Harbor freight transmission jacks that you can ratchet up and down. it has a wider base that kinda snuggles up to the bottom of the diff nicely. The trick I have learned is when you start to...
Just wanted to post an update and some closure in case some one in the future comes across this thread. After a long and patient wait, Ford Performance had me ship my broken axle back to them, evaluated it, and determined the failure had nothing to do with my install. They are shipping out a new...
Just in case you haven't seen it, (the search function can be a bear sometimes) here is a link to my rear axle swap guide. It might help you determine if you have the want/ability to do it yourself. I did it on the floor with jacks and jack stands. Only specialty tool I would recommend is a good...
Just wanted to add myself to the list. I think I have the record for fastest failure as well. I ordered a 4.70 M210 from the Ford Performance website. Installed it and filled with fluid. Made it three miles before I came to a hard stop from 30mph. Axle was siezed solid. Luckily I was on a gravel...
I'm hoping to pull one CV so I can limp it over to the shop. The pinion is stuck solid, I can't spin the driveshaft to save my life, but with the wheels in the air they will rotate opposite directions so the spider gears are still doing their thing. It'd be nice to be able to drive it with no...
UPDATE: Received a email from the corporate Ford tech line last night. It came around midnight so I guess they have people working long hours. I have been instructed to pull the axle out and cap it to retain the fluid. They want it shipped back to them for inspection, hopefully on Ford's dime...
The problem is I bought it direct from the Ford parts website. The dealership has no involvement other than it's where I had to pick the axle up at. I'm thinking that is why they don't care.
The fact it is just still sitting in my front yard is what has me really bummed out. If I'm SOL than...
I called my agent and I have tow coverage. They will cover one tow so I can at least get it to the dealership if they will be willing to look at it. Something I never considered as i'm not use to owning newer vehicles and the full coverage insurance that comes with it.
Just an update: Haven't got anywhere or any answers from anyone. The corporate warranty email I was told to message hasn't responded to my email, and the person I was told to contact at the dealership has never called me back after our initial conversation last Thursday. I tried to contact him...
I would have got my money's worth for sure. Earlier this week my mustang got a flat tire on the annual dudes road trip me and my buddies take. I had to limp it home on the spare, which coincidentally was manufactured in the 80's. 😅
Thanks man, I actually have a write up in the works for re-gearing our Dana M220's. I really hope that it doesn't turn into a tear down and rebuilding of the M210 front one as well.
I still have the original crate and would gladly ship it back if they would just send out a new one. But the dealer seems to be on the same page as Ducati said. They will need the whole rig, do diag, and verify. Then I guess I have to either pay them to install it or tow it back home and do it...
Nope I checked that. I topped it off when I installed it bc when I swapped in my rear axle it was low from the factory. That was partially why I cracked open the fill plug to see if I was crazy and only thought I had filled it.
Just an update. Ford chat said to email a warranty email address. Emailed corporate Ford and got an automated message saying they will get back to me in 3-5 business days.... Right. Called my local dealership and they seem to kinda have an idea of the situation but need to check with someone...
I guess I definitely fall in that category. Maybe three miles and never over 45 mph. I was surprised when it was the front unit, figured I messed up my re gear of the back and it locked.
Well it's been a rollercoaster. Guess I'll add another tow bill to the gut punch. Thanks for the help man, guess I'll call the dealership tomorrow to see what they say and skip the 1-800 line.
I don't even know where to start right now as I'm pretty defeated....
I recently regeared my bronco and swapped out my M190 for a complete M210 unit from Ford parts. I've been doing this in my own shop with my own tools, something I've tackled in the past and went into with the confidence to...
