🙄 Who are you people that can't figure out how to get into your Bronco without those stupid grab handles.
Dear Ford,
Please leave the "new" grab handles off, just as a test for who should actually be able to own a Bronco.
Looks like there's going to be a nice Bronco celebration at Carlisle this year.

OP - Yes, you are correct. Ford research indicated that Flex driving soccer moms wanted a 4 wheel drive option for when they encountered snow at the Starbucks drive-thru , hence the Bronco (4 door) wagon was born.
A new improved version may be coming soon...
Hmmm, guess the story used the "Ford Bronco | Artistic Operations via iStockphoto" of a 2 door, because that's what people really think of when they hear Bronco... not that long-ass, school bus looking thing. 😉
I understand the concept... Not trying to argue, but there are also "sacrificial" parts of the metal bumper that help avoid frame damage.
The Bronco steel rear isn't just one single piece, there are the mouning brackets, bolt together internal support structures, and the metal skin. All...
I get what you saying, to a point. But if someone hits me at 15 mph or above in the middleof the bumper, that plastic bumper is flexing to the point the it his the frame behind it. I'd rather replace the bumper than a frame section.
Actually, I didn't have any issues removing the bolts from the inserts... they didn't really seem that tight, which shocked me a bit. To your point though, if they were overnighted I could see that being an issue.
I just did this swap last weekend on my BaseSquatch, it is only those 6 bolts. The passenger side has a locating pin that helps hold it in place. The only "extra" thing I did (just today actually) was make a little mount for my 4 pin connecter.
The "performance" is tight... it's an off-road focused utility vehicle with 35's. No matter how much money you pour into it, its not going to handle as well as a minivan.
If you buy the Ford kit it comes with new mounts, you just swap them out with the originals.
Also, if you sign up with Rakuten, on Black Friday they usually have a 12% or 15% rebate with Ford Accessories. That's how I got mine last year
I know this swap has been covered in detail before... But, after a bit of searching I found a take-off steel rear bumper (from a Black Diamond) for my BaseSquatch and installed it this weekend.
It was super simple and took all of about an hour to complete. All in all, it was well worth the...
This is what I do.
- Arrive at parking lot
- Put the fob in my Faraday Bag (warning: buy a good bag and test it)
- Put bag in jack compartment in the back
- Lock it manually
- Walk away
- When I come back, I unlock with the app, get the key and drive home.
Done this many places; trail heads...
My wife and I have been playing a little game while traveling, it's called "Find the Jeep without ducks on the dash"... it's much more difficult than you would think.
Stay at least 2 seconds behind the car in front of you, windshield chipping will reduce by 95%.
I follow the 2 second rule, my '21 BaseSquatch has 0 chips and the original windshield.
