Yes.. I suspect you’ll hear it only at higher boost pressures & then back off the throttle. I too have a K&N. The stock setup has baffles (no pun intended) to eliminate this sort of thing happening.. nothing to worry about! Sorry I can’t provide greater specifics.. maybe one of the engineers...
I ran homemade 1/4” square tubbing sliders for my ‘94 LR D90 and purposely had them 2”’s away from the body.
Here I am with a ‘24 BL’s (2dr) and while the stock sliders are ok, I’m nervous to actually impact them?!?
Anyone experience flexing in the stock units? The length of the 4dr units even...
My guess is your airbox intake; When the turbo spools-up boost and you then back-off on the throttle, that pressure seeks the path of least resistance and “pop”!
Owned a ‘94 YJ and loved the 4.0L.. but hated the open diff rear-end and Dana 30’s. Do not miss it & wouldn’t buy another.. LOVE (almost everything) about my ‘24 BL’s (2dr, 2.3L, manual) except it’s fat 5,000lbs weight ;)
