SSM 50842 - 2021-2022 Bronco - Headlamps Turn On By Themselves When Vehicle Is Off - DTC B1533
Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles may exhibit a condition of intermittent headlamp operation while the vehicle is OFF and have diagnostic trouble code (DTC)...
As reported elsewhere on B6G, It is a known problem and Ford is redesigning the switch. The replacement switches may be available in October. It is suggested that you go to the dealer and get in the system so that there is a ticket started on the issue and you will be in the que.
Well how about that. I have been so busy I still havenāt been to the dealer yet. I think Iāll print that out and take with me. Thanks for posting that!
My guess, based on comments here and the way people become aware of the problem, is this is very common. Most people donāt realize their vehicle is even doing it as it happens an hour or so after they shut it off. I wouldnāt have known, if it didnāt happen three weeks in a row, just as I came...
I find that manually turning the switch so that it is off, before shutting down and exiting the vehicle, keeps the lights off. Otherwise, within an hour they will come on, on their own. It appears to be faulty software as no other parts replacements seem to work.
At this point there is no known solution. Several have had the switch replaced, and the problem persists. Some are waiting on a BCM replacement, but those are back ordered, and we have not seen anyone report that fixes the issue. The smart money is the problem is a software issue. Hopefully a...
There are multiple threads on this issue. I donāt think itās the switch anymore as many have reported the issue continues even after the switch is replaced. I think, as others have already surmised, that it is a software issue. I did reach out to Ford above, and have a case number started. I...
That sucks. I had my fingers crossed for ya. I didnāt get a chance to go to the dealership yet. I did reach out to Ford on this forum and they created a case number for me. You should reach out to them as well. Check out this thread...
I agree, itās a total head-scratcher. Mine doesnāt do it if I manually turn the switch to off before shutting down. Otherwise it does it with some regularity. And to those who will say itās my knee hitting it, no, Iām not hitting it. The switch is still getting power, even when the engine is...
Its interesting that a lot of us with this issue have Base Broncos. Not all, but quite a few. Our switch does not have features like fog lights. Iām guessing itās a bad batch of switches.
Excellent! Thanks for the update. Iām going to try to get to my dealership today. You live in a beautiful place. I visited Kauaāi a couple of years ago and look forward to returning some day.
The physical switch is not moving, the lights on the light switch will turn on, and the headlights/taillights come on. Some times it has happened just by opening the door. All fuses are tight. All plugs are tight. Battery connections are tight. Software is updated. Itās either a faulty switch...
Iām sorry if this is a stupid question. Iāve never had windows tinted. I have a Base 2-door and would like to have the back and rear side windows tinted. Hereās the question: Do they apply the tint from the inside, or the outside and if itās inside how do they avoid screwing up your rear defroster?
Yeah, itās not from hitting it with my knee. I can make mine do it whenever I want by not manually switching it off before shutting down the engine. Yours may be doing it and you donāt even know it. Mine will come on about 50 to 65 minutes after shutting down and exiting the truck. I am very...
This is a common problem. Please let us know if a new switch solves the problem.
