Yeah I think you're spot on. If you're dealing with any somewhat decent dealership, it won't ever go there since they will value their reputation too much to pull something this egregious... But if they do it anyways, it's good to know you probably do have the legal upper-hand. Even if you would...
I was just referring to the fact that a lot of states have laws prohibiting car manufacturers from selling directly to consumers. These laws require that you buy a car through a third-party (e.g. a dealership). Even if I called up Ford and both me and the Ford agent agreed on my purchasing the...
Yeah looks like dealer holdbacks obscure things. They pay Ford $x invoice, but then at the end of the quarter, Ford sends them a check that makes the effective price paid significantly lower. Hmm. Seems pretty shady and tbh the fact that I'm legally banned from purchasing something from the...
I'd bet 2-door is also more popular with the 'under 30 with no kids' crowd like myself. I'm sure 4-doors are most popular with the 30-45 crowd who have a few hell spawn to take into account. Us younguns and old-timers get to be a little less practical ;)
Thanks for the insight. Doing some Googling it does seem you're right that new cars are generally loss-leaders for the dealerships while service is where most profit is made.
It does still seem like we'd be better off if there was a choice at least. Order straight from Ford for invoice cost, or...
I don't recall the source off the top of my head, but I remember reading somewhere that direct-to-consumer sales by car manufacturers could reduce sale price (read: MSRP) by as much as 30%. It makes sense in theory to me. There's still going to be plenty of competition between car manufacturers...

Sure, we have no heated seats, no MGV or leather, no 360 cameras, no ACC, no 12-inch screen, no leather steering wheel, no tow package, no CO/A51/CG, no sig lights...... but we do have a cool blacked-out grille š
The important distinction is that these Tesla stores are owned and operated by Tesla Motors. Traditional dealerships are independent from the company whose cars they sell.
In most states it's still illegal for the manufacturer to own and operate their own storefront.
Those laws are purely protectionism at this point. Maybe they had a good purpose back in the day, but now you can research and spec out your vehicle online no problem.
If dealerships really do offer a valuable service, they should be able to stand on their own two feet without having the state...
I'm having trouble deciphering this. So you're saying there's two lists you're on: bronco and warthog.
On the warthog list, you just joined today at #16.
On the bronco list, you were 49, but now you're 4. Of those initial 48 in front of you, 45 were first editions.
Do I have that right?
Is the invoice you're talking about just the one generated by Ford to calculate MSRP? I believe statements of MSRP don't necessarily mean anything with regards to the price between you and your dealer. Can't hurt to get a more formal agreement in writing.
Question for anyone with first-hand knowledge/experience:
If a dealer said they would charge MSRP in an email prior to your order being placed, is that enough to hold them to it when you pick up your vehicle?
Yeah, it looks like it. The Warn Elite front bumper without the bull bar might be a good choice for anyone concerned about the camera. I'm not positive it would give a completely unobstructed view, but it looks like it's the least obstructive option with a winch so far.
Looks pretty good! I like that the winch is a little lower than the mod bumper configuration.

Canāt go wrong either way. I went with the 2.7 because I figure Iāll never regret a little more power and torque, and unlike a lot of other things on this vehicle, the engine choice is something youāre more or less stuck with.
On the other hand, itās a lot of money to spend when the 2.3L will...
Gotta agree with OP. I went and sat in a 2-door last week at the lot and came away with a big smile on my face. It was simple, functional, and looked decent. What more do you need?
