I probably used some combination of this:

And
The towing module install guide. That’s here somewhere but most of what you need is in my pictures.

Yes. The wiring they provided reached if memory serves. If you follow their instructions to wire to the plug, the spliced are exposed to the weather (water and salt here). If you go to the tailight plug, you lose full functionality. My way, you avoid both problems.
Their instructions were awful. I wired to the OEM tow wiring module behind the panel on the driver side in the cargo area. Tapped into the taillight there also. Nice and clean as well as protected within the vehicle.
Well two options that allow this do exist (Gobi, Raket), they just don’t fit my ”needs”. What I may consider doing is picking one that’s reasonably self contained structurally like a Mesa or Frontrunner and fabricate a way to quick disconnect the front and pivot similar to the Gobi. Honestly, it...
I can’t speak to the Mesa (yet), but I’ve called FrontRunner, ARB, RCI, TOR, and heavily dug into Prinsu and others online. Many of them wouldn’t alow you to remove the OEM panels to begin with. Those that do, report that removing the single panel TOR is unlikely to be possible. The only two...
If what I asked was confusing, I meant specifically using your vehicle to winch someone else out. Having the vehicle with the winch in park isn’t recommended due to potential damage to the parking pawl as I understand it. And I certainly wouldn’t be near the bumper and winch if I could help it...
I haven’t installed my Trailrax yet, it sits in boxes primarily because of this issue. I went and ordered it AFTER what I interpreted as Turn saying their hardtop would function with the Trailax the same way as the OEM top. I’m not sure where that post was, or if I misunderstood the...
So, I’ve finally gotten my winch installed and of course, I can’t leave good enough alone. I got to thinking about and researching recommended techniques to do a winch recovery on someone else’s vehicle using my winch. The consensus is winching vehicle in neutral, foot on the brake. Then I read...
I’ve bought their rear hatch light and read enough on here about their “ditch light”. It seems like everything they make is close, but off in strange ways. Like they’re digitally scanning and not verifying dimensions or something. They are always so close, but never exactly correct. For that...
I’ve been involved in manufacturing, fabrication and construction for a couple of decades or so. Specifically regarding welding and allied processes. The only definitive thing I can tell you is that our whole world is held together with “Tots and Pears”. I’m not religious, but it’s a miracle it...
The first thing that needed to be done was identifying the base material as best possible. That would guide every decision moving forward (process, filler metal, joint design, pre/in-process/post welding needs, etc). Shooting from the hip here, if you brought that to me in its current state, I...
My god that’s awful. Welding cast isn’t dramatically different than welding steel (although cast is a widely used term full of nuances), it just typically pre-weld and post-weld procedures to avoid cracking related to stress. With modern filler metal options available for nearly every process...
I’ll add (sorry if anyone already mentioned this and I missed it), while I’m not an “anyone” kind of guy, I’ll admit something about why I’ve owned 3 Fords in a row. I attribute it to my…cough age cough lol. I’ve always been a guy who loves tech and innovation, but damn I’m getting tired of...
Yeah, by the time I got a reply, I had ordered the Westin. Waiting on some last pieces to my project, then I’ll coat the brush guard, rough country high mount winch plate, and Lobo brace with Raptor brand bedliner/epoxy and mount it all up. Should be a long project.
